Mary Compan, 96, of Massillon passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Affinity Medical Center. She was born March 7, 1914 in Byesville, OH to the late John and Mary (Gamary) Bubenchik. Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Massillon, and the Massillon Senior Citizens Choir. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, gardening, and taking care of her yard. Mary is survived by daughters Patricia A. (David L.) Orner, and Jeanne M. (Tom) Urbas both of Massillon; grandchildren David P. Orner, John P. (Beth) Orner, Jeffery (Wendy) Urbas, Deb (Brian) Grimsley, Leann Orner, Joseph (Stacey) Urbas, and Diane (Chris) Davis; five great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; sisters Mildred Hlucky of Berea, and Dorothy Smith of Massillon; brothers Milo Bubenchik of Massillon, and Paul Bubenchik of Columbus. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John M. Compan, sisters Susan Huth, Betty Tenyak, and Ruth Ramsire, brothers John, Jerry, and Ted Bubenchik, granddaughter Ann Urbas, and great-granddaughter Grayce. Funeral services were held Friday, December 31 at St. John Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be given to St. John Lutheran Church Pipe Organ Fund, or the church’s Care & Share Fund.
