Mary C. Brattin, 81, of Massillon, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Mary was born on March 8, 1932 in Massillon the daughter of John and Gertrude (Shilling) Kirven. Mary was a lifelong resident of Massillon. She married her husband Donald L. Brattin in 1949 and honeymooned in the scenic beauty at Yellowstone National Park. She loved crocheting and gardening. Mary was gifted with the artistic talents of sketching and drawing both in charcoal and colored pencil. She also enjoyed researching the family genealogy. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sally Kirven, Patricia Dray and JoAnn Skelly. She is survived by her husband Donald Brattin; her son Ronald (Lisa) Brattin of Louisville, OH; her grandsons Neil Brattin of Dallas, TX and Eric (Andrea) Brattin of Washington, DC and Barbara Brattin; her siblings, Jack (Judy) Kirven, Nancy (Manuel) Morales, Ruth Moser, Peggy Miller, and Thomas (Becky) Kirven. According to her wishes there will be no calling hours or services. She will be interred at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
