Mary “Betty” Elizabeth Gallion, age 99 of Massillon, passed away on March 24, 2021. Betty was born on November 5, 1921 in Killbuck, Ohio to Burl and Dorabelle (McElfresh) Still. She worked as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II in Millersburg. She worked as a bus driver for twelve years for Massillon City Schools, as well as was the first female to drive bus for the City of Massillon. She was a member of the Moose Lodge 481 since 1972 and held all offices of the Women of the Moose Chapter 32. She was a College of Regents. She was a district president for the American Legion Post 221 in Massillon and retired as a cook from the American Legion in Zapata, Texas, after 20 years of service. She and her husband were members of the United Methodist Church in Zapata, Texas for 20 years, where they ran the food pantry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Gallion, four sons, Dean, Tom, Wayne, and Dale Gallion, and two brothers, Burl Jr. and Elmer Eugene Still. She is survived by her sons, Bernard and Timothy Gallion, and daughter, Tina Dorow, 27 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. Friends and family may come to call on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 3-4 p.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Continuing with COVID-19 precautions, all attending will be asked to follow proper social distancing protocol and masks are required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Moose Charities at https://www.moosecharities.org/ or Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
