Mary Ann Potts, 66, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly from a short illness on March 5, 2024, at Aultman Hospital with family by her side. She was born on April 17, 1957, in Massillon, to the late Donald and Evelyn (Campton) Potts.
Mary Ann was a 1975 graduate of Washington High School and attended Kent State University where she majored in photojournalism. She was very proud of this accomplishment.
She worked in retail at K-Mart for 28 years and then worked for the Massillon Public Library where she retired after 15 years of service. She also worked as a poll worker for Stark County for two years.
Mary Ann had a passion for helping others and this was shown in her avid blood donations throughout her life. Even after life, Mary Ann gave the gift of sight through organ donation.
She wanted to make the world a better place and for all of us to be kind to one another. Mary Ann’s love for others included her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who she absolutely adored. She always wanted to make sure they had what they needed.
Her love didn’t stop there. Mary Ann was also an avid animal lover, not only caring for her own cats, but also the feral cats that needed food and shelter which she provided.
The world was a better place with Mary Ann in it, and her memory will live on in the acts of kindness and service we all perform to leave our part of the world a little brighter, a little happier when it's our time to go in honor of Mary Ann.
She will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to know her.
Mary Ann leaves behind her beloved sisters, Holly (Mike) Keller and Sharon (Tom) Baum; nieces and nephews, Shannon (Matt) Lamborn, Steven (Ashley) Keller, Natalie (Ryan) Varga, Debra Ferguson, Eric and Donnie Potts and Laura Smallsreed; great nieces and nephews, Tony (Shelby) Mease, Andrew (Rachel) Mease, Zac (Taylor) Wagner, Owen Keller, Blake Keller, Emelia Keller, Maggie Varga, Zaine Wagner, Dominic Wagner, Benjamin Wagner, Brantley Mease and Peyton Mease.
