Mark Steven Dowd departed this life on January 3, 2022 at his home in Massillon. He had been in ill health the last three months, and was ultimately diagnosed with small cell cancer shortly before his death. He was 56 years old. Mark was born on May 25, 1965 to Joyce and David Dowd, Jr. of Massillon, Ohio. He graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1983 and remained a loyal Tiger his whole life. He also attended Bowling Green State University. Dowd began his career in sales and business development for diverse companies, including EB Advertising of Massillon and Athena Industries of Chicago. Over the last fifteen years his creative and entrepreneurial talents were devoted to technology companies. He co-founded and played a major role in the development of Agile Network Builders, LLC, a Stark County telecommunications concern focused on local broadband delivery. From 2015, he co-founded and led business development for InfoGPSNetworks Inc., a Boardman, Ohio-based software developer in cybersecurity. Mark Dowd served on the Business Advisory Board for the DeVille School of Business at Walsh University and mentored MBA students for many years. Mark Dowd had a tremendous capacity for friendship, generosity, loyalty, and love. In the final weeks of his life he did his best to care for those who would remain after him. Mark told a story like nobody’s business and cracked wise through his final hours. A holder of strong opinions, he loved sports, politics, music, movies, books, and people. He was active, fun-loving, and youthful. Mark Dowd leaves behind a grieving son, Maxwell Dowd; his mother, Joyce Dowd; siblings Cynthia Miller of Canton, David Dowd (Augusta) of Birmingham, AL, and Douglas Dowd (Lori) of St. Louis, MO, as well as six nieces and nephews; and devoted friends and colleagues. A memorial service will be held in Mark’s honor in the spring of 2022. Donations in Mark Dowd’s honor may be made to the DeVille School of Business at Walsh University at 2020 East Maple Street, North Canton, OH 44720.
