Mark D. Martin, age 72 of Canton, formerly of Massillon, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Altercare of Nobles Pond. He was born on March 17, 1939 in Zanesville, Ohio and was the son of the late John R. and Vivian (Patterson) Martin. He was a Massillon resident for 70 years. Mark was a self-employed real estate broker and appraiser. He was hired by and retired from the Summit County Auditor’s office as a supervisor of real estate appraisal training. He was a lifetime member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Massillon, the Clinton Lodge F. & A.M. #47, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton and the Tadmor Temple in Akron. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Max Martin and Monte Martin and his niece Cathleen Houtz. He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Martin, whom he married on September 12, 1979, his sister, Kae (Ron) Vilt of Orange Park, FL and Mitzi (Raymond) Ruwadi of Massillon. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Carter Vilt and Marc Vilt of Florida and Christine (Michael) Takerian and Cory DeWalt of Wisconsin and other nieces and nephews through marriage. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 P.M. with a Masonic service at 4:15 P.M. A service. A service to celebrate the Mark's life will take place following the visition at 7:00 P.M. with the Reverend Barbara Bond from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Canton officiating.
