Marjorie Anna Everhart

July 9, 1911 — April 5, 2006

Marjorie Anna Everhart, 94 of Massillon, died April 5, 2006 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton following a very brief illness. She was born July 9, 1911 on a farm near Orrville, Ohio to Elmer and Florence Bechtel. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leland “Dude”, her sister June and brothers Ward and Edson. Marjorie is survived by her daughter and son in law Julia and Lisle Shires of West Des Moines, Iowa, grandchildren and their spouses Kathleen & Dan Alexander of Urbandale, Iowa and Christopher and Sarah Shires of West Des Moines, Iowa, great grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Henry and Norah, her sister Mary Bechtel of Stow, Ohio and her brother Donald Bechtel of Beach City, Ohio. Marjorie had many fond memories of her long nursing career in Massillon as well as the time she spent at home as a mother, grandmother and wife. She loved spending time canning the produce Dude grew in their large garden and visiting with her many friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed sewing and was known as an excellent quilter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Massillon with Rev. Leslie Peine officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be made in her name to First United Methodist Church, 301 Lincoln Way East, Massillon, OH 44646.
