Marilyn R. Martin, age 74, passed away on December 24, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on July 29, 1936. Marilyn graduated from Massillon High School and resided in the Massillon area until recently when she and her husband relocated to Olmsted Township to be closer to their daughters. She retired from Jackson Local Schools after 25 years, having served as Clerk Treasurer. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active with the Christian Mothers Society, having served as a past president. After retiring, she also volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Bingo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Walberta Fread, and two brothers, Leroy and Robert Fread. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, John; her two daughters, Linda (Robert) Smith of Westlake, Ohio and Janet (Scott) Blanchette of Westlake, Ohio; her grandson, Stephen (Becky) Smith, of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; her sister, Barbara Wolfe; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon with Fr. Raymond Paul officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. – 10:45 A.M. The family suggests memorials be made in the name of Marilyn Martin to St. Joseph’s St. Vincent DePaul Society.
