Marie Ruth Dubert

April 9, 1936 — January 5, 2025

Massillon

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, Marie Ruth (Heupel) Dubert, a longtime resident of Massillon, OH, passed from this life in Olney, MD into her eternal rest in Heaven. The youngest of 5 children, Marie was born April 9, 1936 to the late Clarence and Helen (Miller) Heupel of Silver Creek, NY. Marie married Ernest Dubert on July 23, 1954 in Forestville, NY, celebrating their 65th anniversary together before Ernie’s death in 2020.

For years Marie served faithfully as a choir member and a Sunday school teacher of 3rd & 4th grade girls at Massillon Baptist Temple where she was a member for 40 years. She was known for her delicious canned and baked goods, as well as her love for animals (especially every stray cat in the neighborhood).

From her profession as a Registered Nurse working in the ICU and CCU to her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor, and friend, Marie’s life was marked by her fierce devotion and consistent sacrifice for her family, her tender care for anyone in need, and her steadfast faith and love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Psalm 27:1 was Marie’s favorite Bible verse. “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Marie valiantly faced the enemy of dementia, and found God to be the strength of her life and her guide, even to her death, as He promised in Psalm 48:14.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her sister and 2 of her brothers, her husband, and two of her grandchildren. Left to carry on her legacy of devotion, love, and care are her 5 children (John, Jeff, Janice, Judy, and Jay), 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

“She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed...Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised” (from Proverbs 31).

A private graveside service in Silver Creek, NY is planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made either to Massillon Baptist Temple in Massillon, OH, or to Dementia Society of America. To leave a message for her family, please visit the guest book below.
