Marie D. Sigrist

Marie D. Sigrist, 87, passed away on August 14, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born in Akron on June 12, 1929, the youngest of five. She moved to Winesburg with her family and met her husband Richard, the love of her life. They shared 60 years of marriage prior to his death in 2009. A dedicated mother, and grandmother. Marie was a Christian with a very strong faith that sustained her during her life. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and sang in the choir. Marie had a great love for her God, her family and friends. She enjoyed singing, gardening, traveling and baking. She is survived by her children, Ronald Lee (Rebecca) Sigrist of Kernersville, NC, Janice Brust (caretaker) and Gary Richard (Crista) Sigrist of Evans, Georgia; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Richard she is also preceded by her mother, Mabel (Slawter) Hoffman; father and step-mother, Leonard Dewey and Clara A. (Kochendorefer) Hoffman; brothers, Harold and Alton Hoffman; and sisters, Beulah Jackson and Elda Kuba. Romans 15:13. Marie was a great prayer warrior. Her hope as she prayed was for all those she loved to share in her great hope to know the savior and accept Him as theirs. Three things she asked, Be kind, be kind and be kind! Friends and family may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10:00am-11:00am at the Grace United Church of Christ, Massillon with funeral services to follow at 11:00am, Rev. Art Clippinger, officiating. Burial will follow at Winesburg Cemetery.
