Margaret “Peg” Mae Porter Schrader, 92 of Massillon, more recently of Brewster Parke passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008. Peg was born on May 31, 1916 in Massillon to James and Hyacinth Vaughn (Doll) Grant. She worked for 18 years at Schrader’s IGA . She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the K of C #554, Columbian Ladies Guild, Isabellas, 500 Card Club for 60 years and the Rotary Ann’s. She was a loyal Massillon Tiger fan, having nine family members play football for the Tigers. She loved to listen to or watch the Cleveland Indians games. She loved traveling and was able to travel a lot during her lifetime. One of her many great times was riding in the Hall of Fame Parade years ago on one of the floats in a horse drawn sleigh in a winter scene of the McKinley Monument. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Carl Porter and a second husband, Harold Schrader; sons, Rex and Carl Porter; four brothers, Herbert, James, Sheldon & Donald Grant. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly & James Spicer of Navarre, Susan & Thomas Crowther, Patricia & Richard Blakeslee both of North Canton; daughter in laws Barbara Porter of Cape Cod, MA and Karen Porter of Massillon; two step sons, Michael and John Schrader both of North Canton and a step daughter, Susan Phillippi of Maryland, 31 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.. She is leaving behind two dear friends, Tootie (Mary) Lewis and Howard Kanney. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Fr. Raymond Paul officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
