Margaret Jane Gides, age 86, passed away surrounded by her family at Affinity Medical Center on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Maggie was born on August 19, 1925 in Lilly, PA. to the late Jacob and Eliza Mae (Fisher) Robine. She was Valedictorian, Cheerleader, and Band Member at Lilly Washington High School Class of 1944. Maggie married Michael Gides on August 20, 1945, raising two sons, Mick and Jim. Maggie worked and retired from J.C. Pennys and was a longtime Massillon Tiger and Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. Maggie loved Massillon and she loved to cook and bake. Maggie was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church. Maggie's life was her family, and she will be remembered for the lives she touched. Maggie is survived her sons Mick (Susie Nolte) and Jim (Jeanne) Gides. 5 grandchildren: Jeremy (Robyn) Gides, Michael (Kara) Gides, Andrew James (Elise) Gides, Maureen Margaret (James) Elmer, and Cristen (Matt) Cancilla, 6 Great-Grandchildren: Zach, James, Colby, Jeremy Jr., Mia, Marissa, and one more expected in May. One sister Joanna Mae Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, and 3 sisters. A Funeral Mass celebrating Maggie's life will be held 10 A.M at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon on Saturday, March 10, 2012, Father Edward Gretchko officiating. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. Donations can be made to the Massillon Tigers Boosters Club or to St. Mary's Church.
