Marcus W. Sigman, age 93 of Massillon, passed away Thursday evening at Country Lawn Nursing Home in Navarre. Marcus was born on June 26, 1913 in Elk Creek, Missouri to Lafayette and Ellen (Volner) Sigman. He retired from Phelps – Dodge in Arizona in 1975 as a foreman following 40 years of service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Massillon and a life member of the Massillon Moose #481. Marcus was an avid gardener. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lillian L. (Lewis) Snyder-Sigman, with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on May 14, 2007; sons, Alvin Sigman of Phoenix, AZ, Walter Sigman of Linwood, WA, Paul Sigman of Chandler, AZ; daughter, Joye Lowe of Burns, OR; step children, Raymond W. Snyder of Massillon, James T. Snyder of Beach City, Richard Snyder of Myrtle Beach, SC and Betty Kittinger of Massillon; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating Marcus’ life will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Massillon with Dr. G. Karl Gaston officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow the services at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Medical Center Hospice, 7568 Whipple Avenue NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
