Marcella A. Blunt

Marcella A. Blunt passed away September 14, 2007, surrounded by her family at the home of John and Mary Blunt. She was born June 10, 1916 in Carnegie, PA to Harry and Izetta Thompson. She later moved to Massillon where she became a life long resident and married Weymon Blunt. She worked as a nurses' aide at Parkview Manor and retired after 32 years of service. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as a Deaconess and member of the Missionary Society. She is preceded in death by her husband, Weymon Blunt, mother and father, Harry and Izetta Thompson, daughters Gertrude Blunt and Geraldine (Willie) Longshore, son, Everett (Marva) Blunt Sr., son Haywood McGriff, son-in-law, Clarence Gilmer, 3 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her loving memory daughter, Izetta (Clarence) Gilmer and son William Blunt both of Hephizah, GA, Darrell (Ruby) Blunt of Altadena, CA, John (Mary) Blunt of Massillon, Raheim (Paul) Abdul of Baltimore, MD, Virginia Mercer of Columbus, OH, Diane (Leon) Rolland of Massillon, Tina Blunt of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Dena (Manuel) Roman of Ft. Myers FL. She also leaves special cousins Howard and Beverly Harper and Ruby Arrington and very special, dear friends, Pauline Lemon, Margaret Ward and Ora Benjamin. Also grieving her passing are 34 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James A.M.E. Zion, with Rev. Robert Lewis officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Condolences maybe sent to 1280 - 13th St. S.E., Massillon, OH 44646.
