M. Eleanor Snavely, 98, of Massillon, went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2014. She was born on January 13, 1916 in Massillon, the daughter of Merle and Mary (Erb) Eckard. Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Massillon and a 1934 graduate of Washington High School. She married Raymond Snavely and they shared 44 years of marriage. She was a devote Christian and a member of Sixteen St. John's Church where she was active in the Women's Guild. Eleanor was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering and traveling. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Snavely in 1981; her son, Philip Snavely; her brothers, John and Marvin Eckard; and her sister, Jean Fox and an infant sister. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Maurice (Cathy) Snavely, Karen (Leonard) King, and Marcia (Robert) Benson; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Laurel Staff and Dr. Zimmerman for their special care of our mother. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Sixteen St. John's Church. Rev. Tom Hough will be Officiating. The family will receive friends TONIGHT at the Paquelet Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Sixteen Church Cemetery.
