Lucretia (Lu) Kish age 95 of Massillon passed away March 28, 2007 in Affinity Medical Center-Massillon. Lu was born March 14, 1912 in Romania to the late John & Ann (Pandrea) Philips. The family immigrated to Massillon that same year and she became a citizen in 1940. On June 9, 1934 she married Joseph Kish and they were married 51 years before his death in 1985. Lucretia’s first love was her family and she will be remembered by them, her friends and her neighbors as a wonderful homemaker, great story teller, a loving friend, and a loyal Indians fan. She worked at Posture Products, area nursing homes and two downtown shoe stores where she often worked at both stores on Saturdays. Lu was affiliated with the First Christian Church and the Massillon Baptist Temple and enjoyed the visits, prayers and loving concern from the members of both congregations. In her younger years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Boyd; granddaughter, Reva Kish; sister, Helen Winkler and a brother, John Phillips. She is survived by a son, Joseph (Margaret) Kish of Massillon; granddaughters, Jane (Jim) Whitten & Karen (Jim) Smith of Denham Springs, LA; step-granddaughter, Jane DeHass of Massillon; sisters, Aurelia Royer of Massillon and Ann Novak of New Mexico; sister-in-law, Mary Phillips; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday, March 30th, at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be 9 AM Saturday at Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call 2-3 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be given to either church. The family would like to give thanks to special people who made her last years happy ones: Tina, Donna, Crystal, Jackie and Tiffany.
