Lowery Bodiford age 90 of Massillon passed away March 16, 2011 at Affinity Medical Center. Lowery was born August 30, 1920 in Crenshaw County, AL to the late Ransom & Katie (Lowery) Bodiford. He served in the US Navy during WW II and received an Honorable Discharge. After the war he moved to Massillon and began working for Republic Steel, where he retired. Soapstick as he was known by his friends, will be remembered as a Mr. Fix it. Every morning he went to the local coffee drinking places with the other retired men and could exaggerate and expand his tall tales. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eight siblings. He is survived by his wife Billie (Daniels) Bodiford, two daughters Maxine Bodiford and Toni Trammell, a sister Ora Lee Benjamin and two brothers R. B. & Willie Bodiford; two grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Homegoing celebration will be 11 AM Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church, the pastor Reginald Hye will officiate. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the service. Condolences can be sent to the family at 1118 Walnut Rd. SE, Massillon.
