Louis "Soupie" B. Campbell, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was born on April 28, 1929 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Ralph and Marvel Campbell. He married Pauline "Polly" Harper on May 05, 1973, sharing nearly 42 wonderful years together. Soupie retired from the Cleveland Press after more than 20 years of service as a printer. Soupie had a zest for life, he always had a joke, a funny story or quip to share. You only had to meet Soupie once and he left a memorable impression on you or left you laughing. You could see Soupie coming from a mile away by his bright clothes and unique hats he wore. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards, especially cribbage, going camping, visiting casinos, bowling and volunteering at Affinity and around "The Commons". He was an active Freemason for over 50 years and a member of Trinity Lodge #710, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite – Valley of Canton, Tadmore Shrine – where he served as a member of the North Stark Transportation Unit, former member of Nazir Grotto, BPOE-Elks #441 and The Moose #481. Soupie was a long-time volunteer at Doctor's Hospital and Affinity Medical Center where he worked the 8th Street desk. Soupie is survived by his wife; his children Penny Campbell, Hope Dahlberg, Doug Campbell and Linda Campbell; his granddaughter Kirsten Dahlberg; his Sisters-in-law Shirley Harper and Kathy Harper; his nephews Kirk (Christina) Harper and Timothy (Brittany) Harper; his nieces Shelly Harper and Dana (Brian) Garrett; great nieces Elle and Addie and great nephews Graeham, Markus, Brandon, Everett, and T.J. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son James Campbell, his brother George Ryder and his brother-in-law Jim Harper. A Celebration of Soupie's life will be held on Sunday, March 01, 2015 at The Paquelet Funeral Home at 4 P.M., Pastor Carolyn Nichols officiating.
