Loretta Anne Moore, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2015 after a period of declining health. Born October 1, 1921 in Milwaukee, Loretta was the last survivor of 13 children born to the late Peter & Mary Miehl. When she was a child, the family moved to Massillon where she resided for the rest of her life. She was a welder at the Massillon Aluminum Company during World War II. In 1946 she married Robert Lee Moore, who died in 1992. They had two daughters who survive: Gloria (Gary R.) Miller of Massillon and Roberta (Jim) Trutko of Rocky River. Survivors also include four grandchildren: Laura (Eric) Klein of Massillon, Michelle (Chuck) Cohen of Bloomington, IN and Rob and Mike Trutko of Rocky River. There are five great grandchildren: Alex (Jaclyn), Peter, and Catherine Klein and Ben and Nick Cohen, as well as a special niece, Esther Quaraglio of North Canton. After her marriage, Loretta was a waitress for many years at area restaurants including the Linway, the Lakeshore, Kurt's Inn, and Rizos'. Later, she was an employee of the Hoover Company for 20 years, retiring at age 70. Loretta was an avid reader and a life-long learner. She used her vacation to further her education by making numerous trips to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and to points of interest in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Loretta volunteered at St. Mary School when her children were student there. She served in various capacities including room mother, Girl Scout leader, and secretary of the PTA. She served on the parish council for several years. After her retirement from the Hoover Co. she became a faithful volunteer at Aultman Hospital, serving over 2000 hours as a greeter there. She was a member of the Everhard-Belden AARP Chapter 4121 and of the Massillon Women's Club. Loretta spent her final years in Assisted Living at Amherst Meadows. The family appreciates and thanks the dedicated staff for their tender and devoted care. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at St. May Catholic Church, Fr. Edward Gretchko will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
