Linda L. Wacker, 67, of Massillon passed away at her home on May 7, 2022, with her husband by her side. She fought a courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer that never really diminished her spirits. She was born on March 30, 1955, in Massillon to the late Roy and Shirley (Witmer) Frederick. Linda was a proud 1973 graduate of Washington High School. She worked most of her life in the banking industry which started at First National Bank in Massillon where she was a keypunch operator. More recently, Linda worked for Rapid Mortgage Company as a loan officer. She was also a former, corporate board member of the Massillon Boys and Girls Club and attended Abundant Life Christian Fellowship. Linda was a dedicated Cleveland Indians fan, attending many games with her husband Howard. The two of them also did a lot of camping with their RV throughout the state and always made sure to bring along their loyal, furry companion Tommy. If they weren’t camping, then the two of them would be vacationing in Mexico where they visited frequently or taking tropical cruises. Although Linda and Howard didn’t have children, she treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She absolutely loved spending time with them and treasured the title of “Aunt Linda”. She also adored her great-nieces and great-nephews who were the light of her life. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 33 years Howard Wacker, who has also been her devoted caregiver, especially over these last few years. In addition, she leaves behind her two loving sisters, Cindy Semper and Diann (Ron) Shilling; sister-in-law Patricia Rastetter; her beloved nieces and nephews, Eric Shilling, Wendy Shilling, Marc Shilling, Brenda (Mark) Bolitho, Jenny (Don) Gaut and Beth (Steve) Whaley; her great-nieces Christen Miller, Aaliyah Hankison, Mallory Gabel and Kimberly Gabel; and great-nephews Kyle, Kody, Brennan Shilling and Benjamin Gabel. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 13th from 6pm-8pm at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Shane Cockrill officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family would like to give special thanks to Absolute Hospice and Visiting Angels of Canton for their exceptional care and compassion with Linda these last few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon, 730 Duncan St. SW, Massillon, Ohio 44646, or to Absolute Hospice, 7171 Keck Park Cir. NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720 or to Visiting Angels of Canton, 4905 Hills and Dales Rd. NW, Canton, Ohio 44708.
