Linda L. Rotthoff, 70, of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Linda was born on August 18, 1954 in Bethlehem, PA the daughter of the late William and Dolores Leckonby.
Linda grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where she was raised on Lehigh University's campus, with her Dad as the head Football Coach and then Athletic Director - starting her love for football, which lead her to become an avid Massillon Tiger Football fan. She met David while swimming at Slippery Rock University. She and David were married on Lehigh's campus in 1975 and they started their family in Farrell, PA.
In 1984 they moved to Massillon with their three boys, where David became Massillon's Head Swim Coach. Linda eventually became a school teacher in the Massillon City School System until she retired in 2015.
During those teaching years, she coached age group swimming and was the JV Tennis Coach at Massillon High School. She was very active in her children's athletic lives, attending many of their baseball, soccer, football, swimming, and tennis events. She loved teaching, and loved her students, and became the President of the Teachers Union during her tenure. She was an active member in St. Timothy's Episcopal Church and later and currently St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Canton.
Her early retirement turned out to be because of early stages of a long battle with Frontotemporal Alzheimer's, which ultimately took her life on October 9, 2024.
She is survived by her husband, David Rotthoff with whom she shared 49 years of marriage; sons, Kyle (Niki) Rotthoff, Kurt (Hillary) Rotthoff, and Kreg Rotthoff; grandchildren, Sabelle, Selene, William, Benjamin, Thomas, and Kai Rotthoff; siblings, Bill (Judy) Leckonby, Leah Boylan, Chip (Jan) Leckonby, and Larry (Chris) Leckonby; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
