Linda J. Phillips, 74, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2017. She was born on December 10, 1942 in Shinnston, West Virginia to the late Willie and Vernice (Merrill) Hayes. Linda was a member of New Life Tabernacle for 36 years, where she was famously known as the “Candy Lady”. She was very passionate about her love for the church and always welcomed old and new friends to attend with her. Linda’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother and especially a great-grandmother. She will be missed by all those that knew her and she will be remembered for her outgoing, social personality. She is survived by her children Julie (James) Pritchett, Steve (Dora) Reinhard, and Kelly (Greg) Barker; grandchildren Steven (Alexis) Pritchett, Derek (Sydney) Pritchett, Katelyn (Dan) Griffin and Lauren (Tyler) Harrell; great-grandchildren Kenton Harrell and Makenna Pritchett; brother-in-law Don (Anne) Reinhard; long-time family friend Valerie Weber. Linda was preceded in death by her husband David Reinhard of 13 years, her husband Simeon Phillips of 14 years, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 3-4 p.m. at New Life Tabernacle, 3542 12th St. NW, Massillon, 44646. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Keith Blaylock officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Tabernacle Church, 3542 12th St. NW, Massillon, Ohio, 44646. The family would also like to give special thanks to Astoria Nursing Home for their care and compassion during Linda’s stay.
