Lillie M. Shulok, age 85, passed away Saturday evening at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by her loving children. Lillie was born August 27, 1923 in McKeesrock, PA to the Theodore Vukovich and Mary Hodak-Malich. She moved later to Massillon and was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School. Lillie had a love of reading, music, theater and the arts that was shared with her children. Because of her love of books her family would spend many hours at the Massillon Public Library and the Canal Fulton Summer Theater. She was a 4H Advisor, an avid supporter of Perry School programs, a member of the Over the Hill Gang, Catholic Daughters and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Lillie and her late husband, Joe owned and operated J & L Orchards on Jackson Ave. where they sold organic fruits, vegetables, honey, cider and vinegar. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. (1999), son John (2004) and a brother Matthew Hodak (2008). Lillie and Joe have six surviving children and spouses, Lily & Dr. Jerry Barucky of San Antonio, TX, Elaine Shulok & Bill Lumen of Sandusky, Joseph J. Shulok of Tampa, FL, Sharon Shulok of Westerville, Dr. Janine & Dr. Bruce Barut of Newton, MA & Thomas & Elizabeth Shulok of Escondido, CA; sister Georgia (Krajach) Kelley of Centerville, OH; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Jason, Benjamin, Andrew and Aaron and six great grandchildren, Sagan, Trinity, K, Ryu, Reese and Ryder. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 13, 2009 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 PM Thursday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family would appreciate contributions to the Massillon Public Library Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
