Leslie A. Deem, age 56 of Canton, passed away Friday morning. She was born near Detroit, MI to the late Lt. Col. Edward G. Kar & Jacqueline A. (Bullach) Anderson on September 6, 1948. Leslie graduated from Upper Dublin (PA) H.S., received a BSW from Temple University and an MA in Child Development from Concordia University (MN). Leslie moved from Eugene, OR to the Canton area in 1989. She married her husband Bill in 1994. She was a member of the Chapel in North Canton. Leslie was the President of the local chapter of the Ohio Association for the Education of Young Children and a committee member at the state level. She was a member of Leadership Stark Co. (class 16) & a board member of the Voices of Canton and Great Trail Girl Scout Council. She was also actively involved in supporting the Early Childhood Resource Center, Pregnancy Support Center and was an instructor in the Glen Oak adult education program, an adjunct professor at Stark State College and a member of Junior League. Along with her husband Bill, she owned & operated JAN-PRO of Northeast Ohio. She is preceded in death by her father; one brother, Cpt. Grant G. Kar; husbands, David S. Kluxen II, Gary McNaught. Survived by: Husband William G. Deem of Jackson Twp. 1 son David S. Kluxen III of Dallas, TX 2 daughters Morgan E. K. McNaught of Columbus Whitney G. McNaught of Jackson Twp. 1 stepson Adam C. Deem stationed with the U.S.A.F. in Germany 3 stepdaughters Natalie A. Deem of Jackson Twp. Courtney (McNaught) Truslow of Tennessee Kendal (McNaught) Manuel of Tennessee Mother Jacqueline A. (Bullach) Anderson of Massillon Stepfather Theodore M. Anderson of Massillon Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 9 P.M. and one hour before the service at the funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at noon at the funeral home. The Paquelet Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
