Leroy C. Shaffer, age 76 of Massillon, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Affinity Medical Center – Doctor’s Campus. He was born on December 24, 1931 in Mogadore, Ohio and was the son of the late Lester & Rosie (Domer) Shaffer. He was an area resident for most of his life. Leroy graduated from Washington High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad where he was a carman. He was a member of Eden Church of the Brethren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Shaffer and his sister Pearl Judd. He is survived by his second wife Magdalene (Bacon) Shaffer, his sons. Rodney (Cindy) Shaffer of Canton, Steven (Loretta) Shaffer of Japan, his stepchildren, Rebecca (Neil) Timbers of Holt, FL, Raymond B. (Tina) Hodge of Massillon, Diana Smith of Massillon and Susan (Carl) Roush of Massillon, 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and his brothers, Lester Shaffer of Tennessee, Harvey Shaffer of Dalton, OH and Ralph Shaffer of Dundee, OH. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Eden Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends May call at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday one hour before the service.
