Leone Janet Burke, 84, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away following an extended illness on May 16, 2024 at Amherst Meadows.
She was born on September 7, 1939 to the late William Martinson and the late Francis (Stiklestad) Wells in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
What do you say about the "Worlds Best Mom"? She lived a full life, enjoying being active, and working hard at Morton Salt until her retirement in 2001. She meet her husband, the late Robert "Skip" Burke in Boston, Mass. Their families blended at this time. Leone and Bob enjoyed golf, traveling, cruises, and visiting Ireland. They also visited family while enjoying RV Life in retirement.
Leone is survived by her loving daughter Valerie (Joseph) McMillon Orr; step-children Paula (Chris) McDermott, Jeffery (Laura) Burke, Brian (Donna) Burke, and Neil Burke; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings Judy (Richard) Hanson, Iola Gronhoy, and Roger (Nancy) Martinson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda McMillon Hilivko; step-father Clayton "Pappy" Wells; and brothers Royce Martinson, and Alan Martinson.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shiner's Hospital, or Wounded Warriors Project.
