On Wednesday September 18, 2013, Leila Nerrine Steigerwald ended her journey on this earth and is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Nerrine was born on January 9, 1923 in Canton the daughter of the late Wilton and Grace (Meyers) Shank. She was a lifelong resident of Perry Township and retired from Echo Products in 1982. During WWII she and her sisters worked at Republic Stamping. She loved her family, her Fellowship Baptist Church family and the Cleveland Indians. To her family she was known as 'Grandma Pie Maker', because she was absolutely the best pie baker. She loved to make quilts and plant her spring flowers. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence Steigerwald in 1984; her sisters, Jean Weinstock, and Gwendolyn Reiter; her brothers, James, Richard and William Shank; and her son-in-law Kenneth Foutty. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, James (Christine) Steigerwald, and Susan Foutty; her grandchildren, Tracy (Rob) Gandee, Sarah (Rick) DeBaun, Tonya (Chris Worley) Foutty, and Kristen (Chris Giddens) Foutty; her great grandchildren, Gary, Jimmy, Kenny, Emily, Isaac, Abby, Makenna and Leanna; her brothers, Thomas and Robert Shank; her sisters, Martha Wood and Catherine Guidone; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Aultman's 4 East and Prime Time Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. A Celebration of Nerrine's life will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Her nephew, Rev. Thomas Shank, Jr. will be Officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and one hour before the service on Monday.
