Lawrence W. Rhodes

Lawrence W. Rhodes, 97, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Lawrence was born on December 31, 1917 in Youngwood, PA the son of the late John and Lula (Smith) Rhodes. He was a United States Army/Air Corp. veteran, serving our country during WWII. Lawrence 'Dusty' worked for Wheeling and Lake Erie R.R. and retired from the Norfolk and Southern after 42 years. He enjoyed golfing, restoring model trains, baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Merle Jeffrey and infant son, Joel; his brothers, Walter, John, and Richard Rhodes; and his sisters, Norma Penner and Irene Franzyshen. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary M. (Loomis) Rhodes; his son, Ted (Janet) Rhodes; his daughter, Elaine (Chester) Larson; his grandchildren, Jason Larson, Alesia Rhodes, and Kirk (Amy) Rhodes; and his great-grandchildren, Samantha Cox, Cassandra and Sidney Rhodes.
