Lawrence Michael Coyne

May 24, 1942 — March 20, 2025

Massillon

Lawrence Michael Coyne, 82, of Massillon, OH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 20, 2025.

Larry was born May 24, 1942, in Massillon, OH, to the late John and Marion Coyne. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 and was a Military Police Officer while in Vietnam. During his time in war, Larry was exposed to Agent Orange, causing numerous health complications later on in his life. Larry worked for the Hoover Company for more than 30 years, worked for the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years, and was a Third-Degree Knight. “Back in his day,” he liked fast cars (especially Fords) and drag racing. He loved to rebuild engines and work on cars with his childhood friends, the “West Side Gang.” Above all, Larry’s family and grandkids were most important to him. He loved attending all of their sporting and school events, never missing a moment. Larry enjoyed food and family dinners, especially on Friday nights. Even though Larry was blind, he showed up to be part of the memories and support his family. He was known for being loving, kind and selfless, loving everyone he knew unconditionally.

Larry is survived by his three children Christopher Coyne, Blaine Coyne and Candace Lanzo (Chris); grandchildren Ashleigh Cleveland, Brennen Coyne, Corey Coyne (Hunter), Michael Lanzo (Hunter), Dylan Lanzo (Nicole) and Dominic Lanzo (Myonna); great grandchildren Hawkem Walton-Cleveland and Kinsley Lanzo; former partner and life-long friend, Victoria Coyne (Eisenbrei) and former brother-in-law and life-long great friend, Greg Eisenbrei. Larry will also be missed by his sister, Rebecca Oberlin (Bob) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his three brothers, William Coyne, Dennis Coyne and Jackie Coyne (infant).

Larry’s family finds comfort in knowing Larry is no longer suffering, that he is free of his illnesses and that his vision has been restored to all its glory.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 6 – 8PM, at the Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd.
