Laurence W. Houmard, 69, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. He was born in Massillon on October 10, 1944 to the late Russell A. & Madeline V. (Stanford) Houmard. Larry was the owner of The Brake Shop of Stanwood for the last 30 years. The father of nine was also the host father to 18 foreign exchange students through the YFU program from 1992 through 2004. His love was spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help at any time. Larry was the most generous, caring, and compassionate person anyone could have been lucky enough to meet. He will be greatly missed by all that encountered him. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dawn K. (Boley) Houmard; their children Laurence W. (Deborah) Houmard II of Jackson Twp., Stephen (Erika) Houmard of Charleston, SC, Carrie (Jeffery) Powell of Tuscarawas Twp., Robert (Deissy) Houmard of Dalton, Corinne (Jared) Haney of Magnolia, Justin Houmard of Lakewood, Aryn (Joshua Baus) Houmard of Tuscarawas Twp., Samantha Houmard of Tuscarawas Twp., and Jessica Houmard of Bellbrook; twenty grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Vera Indorf of Tuscarawas Twp. Friends and family are gathering at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and on Friday from 9:00am until 10:00am with a memorial service to follow at 10:00am, Pastor Dale Boston, officiating. Inurnment will be private at the Mt Eaton cemetery.
