Laura Rosedell Hayes, 91, of Massillon, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017. She was born in Mannington, West Virginia on March 21, 1925, to the late James Frederick and Blanche Mae (Hayes) Moore. In 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Hayes and moved to Akron where he got a job at Firestone. Along with his job, Laura and Vern also owned and operated the Tallmadge Motel and Lake Wapasun Campground. Laura always loved riding in the car while Vern drove. They twice drove to Alaska after their retirement. When at home, she enjoyed her cherished doll collection. She made many clothes for them and in some cases made the dolls themselves. Laura had a wonderful sense of humor and a long suffering tolerance for Vern's. Laura and Vern's legacy will surely be how they loved and were loved by each other, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite times were when she was surrounded by her family. Laura is survived by her children, Royce Boron (Bill McDaniel), Roger Hayes (Sharon) and Robin Vandegrift (Bill Townsend); seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, her infant son, Michael Lee, her parents, four sisters and one brother. A service to celebrate her life will take place on Wednesday at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Pastor Homer Watson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. Mrs. Hayes will be cremated and laid to rest at a later date. Donations may be made to Mercy Medical Center Hospice of Canton. Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home (330) 833-4839
