Laura B. Steffen

Laura B. Steffen, age 85 of Massillon, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Affinity Medical Center- Doctor’s Campus. She was born in Canton, Ohio on February 19, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Rhea (Morgan) Stockburger. She was a lifelong area resident. Laura was a 1940 graduate of Timken High School and worked at Hercules Motors and Stark Drive In. She belonged to her card club for 38 years. She was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents Vincent & Rhea Stockburger, brother Vernon, and 2 sisters, Shirlee Cornely and June Keyes. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Omer Steffen of Massillon; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Charlotte (Matheny) Steffen of Lafayette, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law Mark and Cheryl (Steffen) Carter of Tuscarawas Township; daughter Karen Steffen of Vancouver, Washington; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Charlotte Steffen of Massillon; son and daughter-in-law Jon and Leslie Steffen of Mogadore. There are 9 grandchildren: Melissa (Steffen) and Jason Reichert of Valdosta, Georgia; Heather (Carter) and Jake Kandel of Pickerington, Ohio; Trevor Steffen and friend Brandi of Naylor, Georgia; Travis and Heather Steffen of Moultrie, Georgia; Michael Carter of Bowling Green, Ohio; Jenna Steffen, Chris Steffen of Massillon; Jeffrey and Curtis Ballinger of Mogadore. There are 2 great-grandchildren: Trystan and Abigail Steffen of Moultrie, Georgia. Visitation will be at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon on Saturday, August 18, 2007 from 2-4 P.M. The funeral service will be held at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 4 P.M. with Pastor Lee Peters of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Laura resided at Amherst Meadows-Terrace for the past 2-1/2 years. Laura and her family truly appreciated all the kindness and love shown during her time living there.
