Larry Spencer Fierstos, age 73 of Massillon, Ohio, passed away after a lengthy illness under the loving attention of Aultman Compassionate Care Center. He was born in Massillon to the late Ethel (Humphrey) and Lawrence Fierstos. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and William Fierstos, and an infant son, David Jude Fierstos. Larry loved his family and is survived by his wife, Paula (Podbielski) Fierstos, to whom he has been married to, for over 52 years; daughters Susan (Jerome) Markoch, Amy (Timothy) Ringley, and son Mark (Megan) Fierstos; Four grandchildren: Benjamin Markoch, Caroline Markoch, Spencer Fierstos, and Aiden Fierstos; two sisters: Barbara (Bill) Lose, June (Rudy) Scheiderer; two brothers: James (Polly) Fierstos, and John (Bev) Fierstos, and many nieces and nephews. He is a retiree of over 40 years, at the Hoover Company, where he enjoyed working as a technical group leader with the engineers who launched the Elite automation project in 1988. He took pride in overseeing operations of the automated front wheel assembly, brush lacing, agitator assembly, motor line, and automated material handling systems. Larry was a member of St. Barbara's Roman Catholic Church; singing in the choir and volunteering with the cleaning "Holy Dusters" committee. He was also an amateur ham radio operator (KC8RKU) and had a passion for wildlife, hiking, and photography. Calling Hours will be held Sunday, June 26th, from 1-4PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home located at 1100 Wales Road NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646 (330-833-3222) The Mass of Christian Burial will be held with Father Brian Cline on Monday, June 27th at 10:00AM. St. Barbara's Roman Catholic Church, 2813 Lincoln Way NW, Massillon, Ohio 44647. Viewing will take place in the Narthex at St Barbara's, one hour before Mass.
