Larry J. Loomis age 82 of Massillon passed away Sunday August 31, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1926 in Massillon to the late Harry & Clara (Beazell) Loomis and was a life resident of Massillon. Larry was a 1944 graduate of Washington High School. During World War II, her served in the infantry in Europe and received an honorable discharge. Most of his working life was with Massillon Steel Castings as purchasing agent. Larry was a member of Clinton Lodge #47 F & AM, and the Purchasing Agents Association. Larry will be remembered for his love of golf, his humor and love of family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Neil, Hollis (during WW II in Africa), Robert and Arthur. He is survived by his wife Dolores (Lemasters) Loomis with whom he shared 62 years of marriage on May 16th, a son and daughter in Law Larry H. & Susie Loomis of Maryland. He has two sisters and three brothers: Mary (L.W.) Rhodes of Massillon, Nancy Diglaw of Navarre, Bruce Loomis of Massillon, Tom (Joyce) Loomis of Massillon and Jerry Loomis of Boise, ID. Three grandchildren: Wendy (Doug) Jenkins, Stacy (David) Ross, Todd (Stacey) Loomis; and step grandchildren Pam (Ryan) Conley & Chad (Amy) Conley. Thirteen Great grandchildren: Cody, Kayla, Conor, Jenna, Claire, Emma, Caitlynn, Jourdon, Brandon, Samantha, Vendela, Sasha, & Brody. A sister in law, Lois Faye Gordon of New Philadelphia and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service for Larry J. Loomis will be 11 AM Friday at St. John United Church of Christ in Massillon. The Rev. Jeffrey Shultz will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 10 AM until the service at the church. Memorials can be made to either Massillon Museum or the charity of your choice.
