Kyle Eugene Whitlock, 84, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away June 6, 2012 at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center after an extended illness. An avid gardener, painter, cook and car enthusiast, Kyle has finally gone home to be with his family in the heavenly mountains of Tennessee. Kyle was preceded in death by his parents. T. D. Whitlock and Pearl Shipley Whitlock; brother Fred Whitlock and wife Dorothy, brother Kenneth Whitlock and wife Zaleen; and brothers Mack Whitlock and Weldon Whitlock; and infant child Maryann Whitlock and infant granddaughter Karen Whitlock. He was retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service and from Timken Company after 20 years of service as well. A Vietnam veteran, he was a member of the VFW, the Massillon Area Car Club, and the McDonald's Old Fart's Club. He also volunteered at St Joseph's Soup kitchen for the last dozen years where his specialty was cooking chili. He was of the Southern Baptist faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carole (Glutting) and by his five loving children and their spouses-- Kris and Jim Ellis of Johnson City , Tennessee; Mark and Sheila Whitlock of Canton: Terry and Barrie Whitlock of Lilburn, Georgia; Jana and Sean Heyl of White Plains, Maryland; and Kevin and Wendy Whitlock of Perry Twp. He had eight wonderful grandchildren: Brandie Whitlock, Brian Whitlock and his wife Kristen, Susan Ellis, Tyler Whitlock, Liam Heyl, Mia Whitlock, Lindsay Heyl, and Ian Whitlock. He also is survived by his sister Mary Haldine Whitlock, Johnson City, TN and sister in-law, Ethel Whitlock, Kingsport, TN. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home. His final resting place will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations may be sent to St Vincent's DePaul (St. Joseph Church) in his honor. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses of the Cleveland Clinic and Aultman hospitals and especially the nurses of the Compassionate Care Center of Aultman hospital.
