Kim Anthony Orians

March 23, 1955 — October 1, 2021

Kim A. Orians 3/23/1955 - 10/1/2021 Kim Anthony Orians passed away Friday, October 1st, 2021 with his family by his side. He was born in Carey, OH to the late Lyle and Joyce (Myers) Orians. Kim graduated from Carey High School in 1973, Heidelberg College in 1977, and received his MBA from the University of Akron in 1991. He married Deborah (Barnhart) October 21st, 1978. During his high school career, Kim continued a family legacy of excellence in Carey Athletics. He graduated with a 3-year letterman status on the Football team, a 2-year letterman status in Basketball, and was the winner of numerous other awards for his hard work and team leadership. He was consistently recognized as one of the most valuable contributors to both sports. He received an Athletic scholarship to play football at Heidelberg College in the fall of 1973. At Heidelberg, Kim’s characteristic work ethic again earned him a 2-year letterman status on the Football team and he was named co-captain his senior year. He was a member of both the English and Economics Major Honor Societies, and was a prominent member of the Excelsiors Men’s Society. Kim spent over 25 years as a Certified Public Accountant at Levin Swedler, CPAs, serving as the manager for both Tax and Audit services. He maintained a comprehensive knowledge of tax law with a strict sense of ethics and values. He would litigate wording and interpretation with colleagues until he felt the end result met his personal standard of right and true. He also had a passion for teaching, often helping junior associates learn the fine points of accounting as he reviewed their work. Kim dedicated just as much time to designing and maintaining the gardens around the family home. He spent several months at a time personally researching and selecting the interior design elements that would transform the dated historic landmark into a late-19th century Victorian home. An avid reader, it was rare to find Kim without a book or magazine in his bag to pass the time. He enjoyed everything from Shakespeare, to the latest best-sellers, to catalogues on gardening and historic homes. He built a music collection with just as much variety as his library; any time he spent around the house was accompanied by one of his Jazz or classic Rock CD’s playing in the background. Kim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deborah (Barnhart); son Alex Orians; daughter Alyssa Orians; sisters Joy (Steve) Decker, Gaya (Robert) Warnecke, Jil (Paul) Hoepf; and more than a dozen nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church at 5944 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, OH 44718, Pastor Scott Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at Paquelet Funeral Home Friday, October 8th, 2021 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM and 10:00 AM Saturday at the church, prior to the service. Burial will take place at North Lawn Cemetery.
