Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Boyd, age 59 of Massillon passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 26, 1962 to the late Harold and Willie (Meade) Boyd. He attended West Holmes High School. He married Carie L. Smith-Taylor on April 22, 2011 and she survives. Kenny was a musician thru and thru. He played lead guitar with the bands: Thunderstruck, Yellow Creek, Dirty Dudes, Armed and Hammered, Armed and Acoustic, Monkey’s Uncle, but most notably with the group Foxx, that he played with in the 1980’s and traveled extensively. Kenny was known for his eccentric personality and bringing happiness and good times to his family and friends. He will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, bandmate and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carie; his son Ryan L. Boyd; his daughter Camryn Boyd; his sisters Patty Boyd-Smith and Stephanie (Mack) McMurray; his best friends,bandmates and musical brothers John Lovelace, Mideo Octavio, and Dave Jackson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, bandmates and friends. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his niece Allison McMurray, his uncle Ken Meade, and his brother-in-law Phil Smith. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Please check the funeral home website for any updates.
