Kenneth (Pastor Ken) Earl Ferguson, age 75, passed peacefully in his home on November 10, 2022, after a heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Alliance, Ohio on October 1, 1947 to the late Dale Huff Ferguson and Virginia Mae (Wilson) Ferguson.
In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Donald(Rowena) Ferguson.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cynthia (Vaughn) Ferguson, son Brian Ferguson of Massillon, grandson Cody Ferguson of Green, brothers Bob (Renee’) Ferguson of Arcadia, FL, Tom (Linda) Ferguson. His brother-in-laws, David (Kathy) Vaughn & Don (Sandy)Warner, and numerous nieces & nephews.
A 1965 graduate of Alliance High School, his path to ministry was anything but conventional, as he worked at Penn Central (Conrail) for 20+ years, leaving to serve the Lord as a literature evangelist and then a pastor in the Ohio Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for 20+ years at congregations in Carrollton, Wintersville, East Liverpool, Portsmouth and Manchester. Upon retirement, the voice of God he had heard 40 years earlier called him to plant a church in Massillon and that voice became a reality in May, 2014 when Massillon Connections Seventh-day Adventist Church held its first service. He was a volunteer chaplain at several community organizations & supported them with his time and resources. Some people build houses, some amass fortunes, some laud degrees, some transform lives. To know him was to love him, and his love for Jesus was transformative. While he had many loves, family, friends, nature, travel, his love for God and His Word reigned supreme. His 5 chapter a day reading program allowed him to read the Bible through every 8 months; a faithful example to be followed.
Services to celebrate this priceless life & honor his legacy will be at Massillon Connections Church, 308 Erie Street South, Sunday, 11/27 with visitation 2-5. Monday 11/28, Memorial Service 10:00-11:30. Masks suggested & appreciated. The family requests no flowers with memorial gifts instead to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton 44708 with a special thank you for their extraordinary & compassionate care and/or Massillon Connections Seventh-day Adventist Church, PO Box 1145, Massillon, OH 44648 to further his legacy in the community he supported til his passing.
