Kenneth D. Roop

Kenneth D. Roop, age 89 of Massillon, passed away June 2, 2010. He was born July 25, 1920 in Mt. Vernon, OH to the late Ivan & Goldie (McFarland) Roop. He was raised in Akron, lived in Cleveland, until moving to Massillon in 1978. He began a career in pharmaceuticals. His was an apprentice pharmacist at the former Haun Drug Store in Akron. Ken was accepted to George Washington University, School of Pharmacy but was never able to attend because of a serious automobile accident. In 1953 he was employed by the McKesson Robbins Drug Company as a sales representative. In 1985 he retired as the district sales manager of Ohio and Pennsylvania, working out of the Akron and North Canton offices. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred (Skinner) Roop, they met while both were working at the Haun Drug store. They have a daughter, Linda Roop; two grandchildren, John (Allison) Polonye and Heather (Ossian) Field and two great grandchildren, Adalynn and Victoria. Services will be 10 AM Monday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fairlawn. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
