Kendall Kramer Ward, 76, of North Canton, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Wooster Community Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1931, in Toronto, Ohio, and was the son of the late Frank and Alice (Taylor) Ward. He was a Stark County resident for most of his life. He graduated from Toronto High School and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State University. He was the supervisor of speech and hearing therapy for Stark County Schools and was a professor and associate dean at Kent State University–Stark Campus. He served on various boards, including the Lake Cable Recreation Association, the Canton Museum of Art and the Kent Stark Alumni Board. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton, the Retired Executives and Professional Men’s Club and the Wilderness Center Carving Club. He became an avid wood carver; many friends and family members awaited the annual “Christmas project” with childlike anticipation. He is survived by his wife Margie (Owen) Ward, whom he married on September 1, 1953; his son David Owen Ward of New York City; his daughters Suzie (Jim) Thomas of Canton and Jenny (Dr. Dennis) Wenger of Washington, D.C.; grandsons Seth Evin Thomas and James Kendall “Jake” Thomas, both of Los Angeles, CA; his brother Monte Gail Ward of Dellroy, Ohio; and all of the students that he taught. A service to celebrate the life of Kendall Kramer Ward will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 1:30 P.M. at the Kent State University – Stark Campus Conference Center, 6000 Frank Avenue, N.W., Canton, Ohio.
