Kay (Steele) Smith, age 68 of Massillon, passed away Monday May 3, 2010 at Aultman Hospital. Kay was born Feb. 8, 1942 in Massillon to the late Walter & Fern (Tombow) Steele. She was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School and had been employed at Ekco Products. She was a consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics which became a loving passion she shared with grandchildren and friends. Family gatherings were her delight and she would organize birthdays, holidays and parties. Her home was completely decorated for all the different holidays. Kay was a member of the Chapel of the Cross. In addition to her parents a brother, Bob Steele, preceded her in death. She was a loving wife, mother and grandma to Tom Smith with whom she shared 49 years of marriage; daughter, Tammi Capestrain of North Lawrence; son, Eric (Lori) Smith of Oak Harbor; four grandchildren, Amanda, Cortney, Ryan, Haley and a great grandson Nolan. Funeral service will be 10 AM Thursday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Rev. Tim Mishler will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. During her illness, she never complained, or was bitter. Her strength of character and leadership was an example for her family and friends.
