Kathryn M. Matthews age 74 of Richville passed away May 28, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic, with her family at her side. Kathryn was born August 9, 1935 in Millersburg to the late Allen & Ila (Conrad) Sommers. In 1952 she graduated from Clark High School (Holmes County) and was class Salutatorian. For many years she was employed at CVS in Massillon. Her family will miss her cooking and baking for all the family occasions. She was known for sewing and especially for making her Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. Kathryn was a member of the Clark Presbyterian Church and chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #221. She and her husband have sent over 168 care packages to the service men/women which included 2 dozen of her home made cookies in each box. Kathryn and her husband are members of the Mohican Chapter of the Penn-Ohio Model A Car Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son David Matthews May 31, 2001. Kathryn will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, William Matthews; they have two children and their spouses Jim & Holly Matthews of Bolivar and Joan & Rod Boester of Ostrander, OH; a daughter in law Melanie Kilgore; eight grandchildren Mallory Matthews, Jaime Boester Hall, Jeanne Boester, Alex Boester, Amie Boester, Kathryn Boester, Emily Matthews, and Erica Matthews; and one great grandson, Izaak Matthews. Funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 PM Monday and 10-11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
