Kathleen M. Stevens

Kathleen M. Stevens, age 97 of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Altercare of Navarre. She was born on July 30, 1916 in Massillon and was the daughter of the late Leroy and Margaret (Ricosky) Curtis. Kathleen graduated from Washington High School in 1935. She enjoyed hooking rugs, reading and embroidering. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. For the past 5 years she resided at Altercare of Navarre where she met many friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett "Joe" Stevens in 1967, her sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and John Huwig and her great granddaughter, Alexandra Slates. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Margie and Fred Johnson , Bonnie and James Tippel and Larry and Susan Stevens, 5 grandchildren, Joe Stevens, Nick (Keri) Stevens, Ben (Christina) Tippel, Suzanne (Randy) Slates and Fred Mertes , 4 great grandchildren, Samantha (Scott) Ayers, Tatum Slates, Kendra Tippel and Grant Stevens and one great great grandchild Harper Ayers. Also surviving are her nephews, John (Stefi) Huwig and Paul (Sue) Huwig. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Nathan officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 and on Tuesday one hour before the service. Kathleen's family would like to thank the staff at Altercare of Navarre for the special care shown to her and also special thanks to Dr. Donald Zimmerman for many years of caring for her.
