Kathleen D. Spencer

Kathleen D. Spencer, 73 of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2017 with her family at her side. She was born in Massillon on November 2, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Edward and Willa (Rinehart) Elder. Kathleen was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School. She was a member of Morning Star United Holy Church, the N.A.A.C.P., she co-chaired the Massillon Community Circle of Love, presided over the Southeast Improvement Neighborhood Association and was a member of the Church United of Massillon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert L. Spencer, Sr. and her brothers, John Elder and Eugene Elder. She is survived by her children, Michelle Jackson, Tracey Spencer, Pamela (Mike) Carpenter, Robert L. Spencer, Jr. and Eric M. Spencer, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her sister Maretha Keller and her brothers, Harold Elder, Paul Elder and Michael (Nancy) Elder. A service of remembrance will take place on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Friendship Baptist Church with Elder Michael Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 9-11 A.M.
