Karlene Ann Harter

Karlene Ann Harter, aged 72, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011. She was born on November 27, 1938 in Canton to the late Karl Engleman and Anna Mae (Nuemiller) Engleman. She was a graduate of Beach City High in Wilmont, OH, and in 1960 she graduated as Valedictorian of her class receiving Bachelors in Music, and a minor in English from Bowling Green University in Kentucky. She married Ernest “Joe” M. Harter on November 25, 1964 and they were together until his death on May 22, 2002. She taught Music at Perry High School, and English at Edison Jr High School until her retirement. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Massillon, serving for many years as the Choir Director. Karlene is survived by her son, J. Todd(Julie) Harter, 5 grandchildren, Jonathon R. Harter, Samantha J. Harter, Madison A. Harter, Jonah B. Harter, and Tristan J. Harter all of Jackson Twp., and one Aunt Lois Latino of Dover, OH. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Massillon. Pastor Jeff W. Coggins, officiating.
