Karl A. Spinden, 90, passed away at home on March 26, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born in Canton on April 22, 1926 to the late Paul and Edith W. (Holms) Spinden. Karl attended high school and then joined The United States Navy, in 1944 at the age of 17. He then went to work for Republic Steel, retiring after 42 years. He also owned and operated Spinden Wall Cleaning and helped start Der Spinden Haus Antiques in Sugar Creek. Karl was dedicated to his family. An avid outdoors man, he loved to hunt, fish and go to auctions. He especially loved going to his farms in Harrison and Tuscarawas County. He is survived by his children, Susan (Ed) Booth of Warren, Karl (Debbie) Spinden II of Sugar Creek and Brian (Lisa) Spinden of Massillon; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Underbrink of Banning, CA; and loyal companion his dog, Dan. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary (Cornell) Spinden; daughter, Linda, two sisters, Gloria and Delores; and a brother, Paul. Friends and family may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon on Thursday March 30, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and from 9:00am- 9:45am on Friday, March 31, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Raymond Paul on Friday March 31, 2017 at 10:00am in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery.
