Karen Sue Adams, 52, of Canton, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on January 20, 1961 in Massillon. Karen was a 1979 graduate of Fairless High and then worked at Aultman Hospital for 33 years, retiring in 2012. While at Aultman Hospital, she won the Golden Apple Award and the "You Make A Difference" award. She attended Holy Family Parish. She was an avid softball player, being known as "Stretch". Karen's softball career spanned from high school until her illness prevented her from playing anymore. In 2006, she was inducted into the Amateur Softball Hall of Fame. During her 20 years battle with Multiple Myeloma, she wrote and had published a book , Introducing Marlon, Your Cancer Fighting Friend!: A Story to Help a Child Learn How to Use Visual Imagery to Fight Cancer. She also made a YouTube video called "Cancer Sucks!" She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Nancy and Clyde Gray, her father Edward Adams, her brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Nicole Adams, her sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Russell Whitmer and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family Parish in Navarre with Fr. Michael Seifert officiating. Burial will follow at East Union Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Tuesday (TONIGHT) from 5-8 P.M.
