Karen Marie Garbarino, 83, of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Karen was born on April 25, 1938, in Massillon. She was the daughter of the late Leo J. and Mary “Toots” (Kelleher) Krantz. Karen was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. She graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and received a Certificate of Advanced Study. Karen taught mathematics for 38 years and retired from Plain Local Schools. She was a Girl Scout leader for 12 years. Karen enjoyed gardening, flowers, and the color purple. She grew up at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and later became a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime companion, George. She was a proud mother of Marylee Brown; a proud grandmother of Elizabeth Brown; and she adored her four-legged companion, Georgette. A Celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 a.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Massillon Museum: 121 Lincoln Way E.
