Karan Sue Christman, 76, of Jackson Township passed away in Talkeenta, Alaska, on June 29, 2022. She was born on May 25, 1946, in Canton, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Alvin Dwayne and Jesse Leona (Thorley) Christman. Karan was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Aultman School of Nursing, and received her BSN from Ashland University. She worked as a nurse at Aultman Hospital for 46 years. Karan was a certified enterostomal therapist (ET) and specialized in skin and wound care. Many of her former patients appreciated her care long after her retirement in 2013. Karan was a long-time member of Trinity United Church of Christ and served in various leadership positions within the church. Karan enjoyed traveling around the world and visited countries such as Germany, Austria, China, and Aruba with her latest adventure being Alaska. One of Karan’s greatest joys in life was spending time with her family, especially during birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Buchanan, and her brother, Melvin Christman. She is survived by her nephews and nieces Scott (Debbie) Buchanan and Beth (Bob) Williams; great- nephews and nieces David (Julie) Buchanan, Lindsay (Blake) Hamilton, and Kylie Williams; great-great nieces, McKenna, Nora, and Sadie Buchanan, and Caraline Hamilton. She is also survived by her life-long friend and honorary family Michelle (Mike) Conkle along with their children Amanda and Jonathan, with whom she resided for over thirty years. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 9 at 11am at the funeral home with calling hours beginning one hour prior. Karan will be laid to rest beside her parents at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karan’s memory to Trinity United Church of Christ (3909 Blackburn Road NW, Canton, OH 44718), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the charity of your choice.
