Julian Charles Converse, of Massillon, OH, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013 after an accident at home. He was born July 17, 1921 to Charles and Emma Converse. He was an extremely sharp, involved 92 year old who never lost his passion for life. Tony, whom his former work mates at Ekco Products affectionately called him, had a wry sense of humor that he shared with all those he came in contact. After meeting someone, he would tell them humorously, "See you in church", or "I'll see you again, barring death and " Lord willing and the creek don't rise." He drove to all his appointments, shopped for his groceries, and always said he was just fine. He was a joy, and we miss him. Julian was the family historian, knew all the history of Massillon backwards and forwards, delved into Ohio history, and was a Civil War and Revolutionary War historian. He was also an avid Tiger fan and watched all the Ohio State football games. He would call late at night and tell you to rush outside and see the space station. He knew current events and would recall past personal and newsworthy events with pinpoint accuracy. He served in World War II with his five brothers, Howard, Richard, Ralph, LaVerne and Maurice, and they all came home safely. He was preceded in death by his sweet wife of sixty plus years, Beverly Louise (Brown) Converse. He leaves behind his daughter, Julianne (Converse) Geltz and her husband Robert, Mark Converse and wife Patricia (Elavsky), Jack Converse and his wife Ellen (Williamson); grandchildren Michael Flanagan, Michelle Cleveland and her husband Dan, Christopher, Brittany, and Cody Converse, and great grandson Cameron Cleveland; and his sister-in-law, Louise Converse, and his good friend Carrie Roth. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Massillon. A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 1 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Father Edward Gretchko, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. Donations in Julian's memory to the Salvation Army, 315 6th Street N.E., Massillon, OH 44646 God speed and see you in church, Dad.
